Substrate Requirements

Concrete must be sound, clean, dry and free of contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, oil, silicones and anything else that may affect adhesion, and should be a minimum of 28 days old. The product is intended for cracks up to 1/8 inch in width, but larger patches can be made with it. Remove all unsound concrete from within the crack or defect to be repaired and thoroughly vacuum all debris and dust from the crack opening. A suitable moisture barrier must be in place for concrete slabs on grade; without one, seasonal variations in ground moisture can cause excessive moisture vapor transmission regardless of results measured before coating. Where moisture vapor transmission per ASTM F1869 or slab relative humidity per ASTM F2170 exceed the sheet's limits, a Maverick moisture vapor barrier primer may be required; consult a Maverick representative.

Mixing and Installation

Apply with air and surface temperatures of 60° – 90°F (16° – 32°C) and material at 60° – 85°F (16° – 29°C), with the floor at least 5 degrees above the dew point; higher temperatures shorten work time. Measure out equal volumes of Base and Activator in a pail or on a rigid, flat surface and mix thoroughly with a putty knife or spatula until uniform in color, mixing only what can be used within the work time, since improper or insufficient mixing may cause product failure. Apply with a margin trowel, putty knife or other suitable tool, pushing the material into the repair area and scraping excess flush with the surface. For cracks less than 1/8" wide many epoxies can be placed immediately over the filler; otherwise overcoat after the material sets but within 24 hours. If material is spread well beyond the repair area, check cured areas for amine blush (a whitish, greasy or non-glossy film) before coating, and remove any blush with a standard detergent cleaner.
