MavGrout USP Polyurethane Sloping Grout
MavGrout USP is a sloping material typically installed at 1/2" – 3" in thickness. MavGrout USP is extremely tough and withstands thermal shock, impact, abrasion, and chemical exposure. It is formulated with a natural additive to be resistant to fungi growth per the industry standard ASTM G21.
MavGrout USP: Polyurethane Sloping Grout
MavGrout USP is a polyurethane grout mortar supplied as a complete unit: Part A and Part B liquids, a MavGrout SF 30 filler bag and a 40 lb. bag of 10/20 aggregate. It is trowel or screed applied by trained persons experienced in polyurethane concrete flooring applications.
MavGrout USP is an underlayment. It is installed over a primed, CSP 5 or greater concrete substrate to build slope, then topped with a polyurethane floor system after a minimum 12-hour cure.
Where it fits: MavGrout USP is an underlayment that sits over the system's polyurethane concrete primer or MavPrime MVT epoxy primer and under a polyurethane floor system; it is not designed as a standalone flooring material.

Read Before Specifying
- MavGrout USP is an underlayment and not designed as a standalone flooring material
- MavGrout flooring should not be installed on wet concrete
- Floors should be sloped to drain to prevent standing water or chemicals
- Spills should be removed as soon as possible to prevent a slipping hazard
- Confirm product performance in the specific chemical environment prior to use
- If waterproofing is required, use a MavSeal waterproofing membrane with a heavy 30-grit aggregate broadcast
- Follow detailed instructions in the MavGrout Application Guide
- For industrial/commercial use; installation by trained personnel only
- Do not allow materials to freeze

Substrate Requirements
Apply only to properly prepared clean, dry, and sound concrete substrates that are free of all coatings, sealers, curing compounds, oils, greases, or any other contaminants. New concrete should ideally be cured for a minimum of 14 days; MavGrout can be installed after 7 days or when concrete reaches a minimum 3,500 psi compressive strength. Concrete contaminated with chemicals or other foreign matter must be neutralized or removed, and any laitance or weak surface layers, including broom-finish surface, must be removed. Concrete must have a minimum surface tensile strength of 300 psi per ASTM D4541 and be mechanically prepared to a CSP 5 or greater profile per ICRI Guideline 310.2R (equal to 40-grit sandpaper or coarser). Address all surface irregularities, cracks, expansion joints, control joints and terminations prior to application; moving joints and cracks will reflect through the finished floor. To prevent lifting or delamination, keyways (minimum 5/16" wide x 5/16" deep) must be cut at all terminations, joints, columns, doorways, and drains.
Mixing and Installation
Clean sand and dust from the prepared concrete, then prime either with the system's polyurethane concrete primer broadcast with 10/20 aggregate at 0.2 lbs. per sq. ft. and back-rolled, or with MavPrime MVT epoxy primer. The polyurethane concrete primer must cure a minimum of 12 hours before the sloping material is installed (never install wet on wet); over MavPrime MVT, the sloping material can be installed after 60 minutes and before 24 hours. Using a proper mixer and paddle, mix 5 lbs. of Part A with 5 lbs. of Part B for approximately 30 seconds, gradually add the full bag of MavGrout SF 30 filler and blend until all particles are wetted out (about two minutes), then add the 40 lbs. of 10/20 sand blend and mix fully. Within 3 minutes of mixing, spread the material slightly thicker than the desired finish with a screed and hand trowel, finish lightly with a steel trowel with all strokes in the same direction without overworking, and lay abutting edges within 10 minutes to keep a wet edge. Allow to cure 12 hours, then cut joints and grind if needed; allow a minimum of 12 hours before installing a polyurethane floor system on top. Air temperature should be 40° – 85°F and material 50° – 80°F; higher temperatures shorten pot life and working time.
