Battery & Energy Storage Flooring Systems
EV battery manufacturing, lithium-ion battery production, battery module and pack assembly, electrolyte production, battery research laboratories, battery recycling facilities, and grid-scale battery storage facilities — one market, a different floor in every zone. Maverick engineers and installs each of them from its Taylor, Michigan headquarters for plants across Michigan, Ohio, and the Midwest.
From Electrode Slurry to Grid Storage
A battery plant runs solvent-borne slurries, flammable electrolytes, static-sensitive electronics, heavy formation racks, and hard-wheel AGVs under one roof. No single floor serves all of it. We engineer each zone to its chemistry, its traffic, and the condition of the slab it sits on.
The body of the floor is MavClad epoxy mortar or MavCrete urethane cement where the duty is heavy, MavCoat epoxy coating where it is lighter, MavCoat NV novolac where the chemistry is aggressive, and MavCoat ESD where static control is specified. Containment areas are detailed under our chemical-resistant linings and secondary containment service.
Electrode Coating & Dry Rooms
Solvent-borne slurries, slot-die coaters, calendering, and rooms built for cleanliness. Seamless, smooth, cleanable epoxy with coved transitions, sequenced with the room fit-out so the floor never becomes a particulate or contamination source.
Cell Assembly & Formation
Winding, stacking, filling, and formation racks that load the slab for days at a time. Smooth seamless epoxy under the assembly line; heavier builds under rack point loads and the aisles that serve them.
Module & Pack Assembly
Hard-wheel AGVs, fixtures, and tuggers moving heavy modules. ¼″ troweled epoxy mortar in the aisles, every joint filled, and MavCoat ESD where the station is static-controlled.
Electrolyte Handling & Chemical Storage
Flammable, reactive, and corrosive liquids with the containment rules that come with them. Novolac epoxy over a troweled mortar body, coved berms, lined sumps, secondary containment, and tank and process linings built under our chemical-resistant linings and secondary containment service.
Battery Test Labs & ESD-Controlled Areas
Cycling, abuse testing, and electronics benches. MavCoat ESD static-dissipative urethane floor coating applied over an epoxy insulator coat and grounded to the building — surface resistance, point to point/ground, 1×10^5 to <1×10^9 ohms per ANSI/ESD STM 7.1 — for electrical assembly, circuit-board handling, avionics areas, static-sensitive manufacturing and packaging, clean rooms, and labs. Where the same lab handles electrolyte or test fluids, the containment is lined and coved as part of the same build.
Recycling & Grid-Storage Facilities
Shredding, black-mass handling, and acid leaching on one side; container pads, battery rooms, and forklift traffic on the other. Heavy mortar with novolac topcoats for recycling floors; exterior-rated and heavy-duty builds for storage sites.
| Zone | Primary Exposure | Typical Starting Point | Nominal Thickness |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrode Coating & Dry Rooms | Solvent-borne slurry, cleanliness, foot and cart traffic | Seamless MavCoat SLE epoxy with integral cove base and coved transitions | — |
| Cell Assembly & Formation | Formation rack point loads, cleanliness, electrolyte drips | MavCoat HB under the line; MavClad EM under rack lines and service aisles | — |
| Module & Pack Assembly | Hard-wheel AGV traffic, fixtures, static control | MavClad EM in AGV aisles; MavCoat ESD where specified; MavJoint JF | ¼″ (aisles) |
| Electrolyte Handling & Chemical Storage | Flammable, reactive, corrosive liquids; containment | MavCoat NV novolac epoxy over MavClad EM; lined secondary containment | ¼″ |
| Battery Test Labs & ESD Areas | Static control, electronics, incidental spills | MavCoat ESD urethane over its epoxy insulator coat, grounded to the building | — |
| Recycling & Grid-Storage Facilities | Acid leaching, black mass, forklifts, exterior exposure | MavClad EM with MavCoat NV topcoat on recycling process floors; exterior-rated builds on storage pads | ¼″ (process floors) |
Starting points, not prescriptions. Every Maverick system is engineered to the condition of the substrate, the abuse it takes, and the facility’s history with previous floors — the build changes from room to room and plant to plant. Only new construction over bare concrete comes close to a standard build.

Explore the SystemMavCoat NV & CRE Chemical-Resistant Epoxy
Novolac and chemical-resistant epoxy coatings for electrolyte handling, chemical storage, and leaching areas — over a MavClad body or a sound slab.
Explore the SystemFast-Cure Options
MavSeal UPA Fast Cure, MavCoat FC basecoat, and MavRapidPatch — for when the production schedule, not the chemistry, sets the window.
Explore the SystemEngineered Zone by Zone, Built by One Company
Maverick formulates and batches its own products, installs with its own crews, and stands behind the floor with a single-source warranty and a 48-hour response. The build for a battery plant is engineered zone by zone from the slab, the chemistry, and the traffic — not copied from a brochure.

Battery Plant Flooring Questions, Answered Straight
Which floor goes in an electrolyte handling or chemical storage area?
The chemistry schedule decides. The usual starting point is MavCoat NV, a 100% solids zero-VOC novolac epoxy for aggressive chemical environments, over a ¼″ MavClad EM troweled mortar body, with coved berms, lined sumps, and secondary containment built under our chemical-resistant linings and secondary containment service. The lining is specified against the stored chemistry and the chemical-resistance chart on each product data sheet, and the detailing concentrates at the corners and terminations, which is where containment fails.
Do you install ESD flooring for battery test labs and pack assembly?
Yes. Maverick’s static-dissipative product is MavCoat ESD static-dissipative urethane floor coating applied over an epoxy insulator coat and grounded to the building — surface resistance, point to point/ground, 1×10^5 to <1×10^9 ohms per ANSI/ESD STM 7.1 — for electrical assembly, circuit-board handling, avionics areas, static-sensitive manufacturing and packaging, clean rooms, and labs. It is installed with coved transitions where the lab or station also sees washdown or spills.
One plant has a dry room, an electrolyte area, and a warehouse. Is that one floor or three?
Three, at minimum. The dry room needs a seamless, smooth, cleanable epoxy with coved transitions. The electrolyte area needs novolac epoxy over a troweled mortar body with containment detailing. The warehouse needs a coated slab with every joint filled against forklift traffic. Same roof, same crew, same single-source warranty — three different builds, each engineered to its slab and its abuse.
Can you install around a commissioning or 24/7 production schedule?
Yes. New plants are sequenced with the equipment set and room fit-out; operating plants are phased by bay, aisle, or station across shutdown windows and off-shifts. Where return to service is the constraint, fast-cure options come into the build — MavSeal UPA Fast Cure topcoat, MavCoat FC fast-cure epoxy basecoat, and MavRapidPatch polyurea repair that takes foot traffic in 10 minutes.
Planning a Battery Plant Floor?
Greenfield commissioning, line expansions, electrolyte containment, ESD areas — bring us the constraint and we will engineer the floor around it.
