Automotive & EV Manufacturing Flooring Systems

Body shop, paint, general assembly, powertrain machining, and EV battery pack assembly share one roof and almost nothing else. From our Metro Detroit headquarters, Maverick engineers and installs floors for automotive OEM assembly plants, engine and transmission plants, metal stamping facilities, and automotive supplier and Tier 1–3 facilities across Michigan, Ohio, and the Midwest — built zone by zone, not plant by plant.

Hard-Wheel AGV Traffic Coolant & Cutting Oil Shutdown Phasing

Six Plants Under One Roof

An automotive plant is not one floor. Stamping dies, purge solvents, hard-wheel AGVs, coolant-soaked machining bays, and static-sensitive battery lines each demand a different build. We walk the plant, read the slab and its coating history, and engineer each zone to the abuse it actually takes.

Maverick builds the floor with MavClad epoxy mortar or MavCrete urethane cement where the duty is heavy, coats it with MavCoat epoxy where the duty is lighter, and fills every joint with MavJoint JF. The deciding variables are the substrate, the traffic, and whether a previous floor has to come up first.

Body Shop & Stamping

Die carts, slug and scrap, weld spatter, and stamping oil on the slab. ¼″ troweled epoxy mortar takes the impact; semi-rigid joint filler keeps the joint edges from spalling under forklift wheels.

Paint Shop Support & Mix Rooms

Purge solvents, strippers, and constant housekeeping. Chemical-resistant epoxy over a troweled mortar body, with integral cove base and coved, seamless transitions so solvent spills stay on the floor and off the wall.

General Assembly Lines & AGV Aisles

Hard-wheel AGV and AMR traffic grinds the same track all shift. Troweled mortar in the aisles, high-build epoxy under the line, and every joint filled — the joint edge is where AGV floors fail first.

Powertrain & Machining

Engine, transmission, and drivetrain machining leaves coolant, cutting oil, and metal fines on the slab. Oil-saturated concrete is a preparation problem before it is a flooring problem; we test and profile before any system goes down.

EV Battery Pack Assembly

Static-sensitive, clean, and often carved out of the existing assembly plant. Smooth seamless epoxy under the line, with MavCoat ESD static-dissipative urethane floor coating applied over an epoxy insulator coat and grounded to the building — surface resistance, point to point/ground, 1×10^5 to <1×10^9 ohms per ANSI/ESD STM 7.1 — for electrical assembly, circuit-board handling, avionics areas, static-sensitive manufacturing and packaging, clean rooms, and labs. Cell and module production is covered on our battery and energy storage page.

Tier Supplier Plants & Warehousing

Parts, plastics, electronics, and tire plants, plus the warehouses that feed the line. Forklift traffic, racking point loads, and dock-door exposure — coated floors, repaired joints, and heavier builds only where the abuse earns them.

Starting points, not prescriptions. Every Maverick system is engineered to the condition of the substrate, the abuse it takes, and the facility’s history with previous floors — the build changes from room to room and plant to plant. Only new construction over bare concrete comes close to a standard build.

Automotive Plant Flooring Questions, Answered Straight

Can you install the floor while the line is running?

Yes. We phase by bay, aisle, or station and work shutdown windows, weekends, and off-shifts. Where return to service is the constraint, fast-cure options come into the build — MavSeal UPA Fast Cure topcoat, MavCoat FC fast-cure epoxy basecoat, and MavRapidPatch polyurea repair that takes foot traffic in 10 minutes. The phasing plan is engineered with the floor, not after it.

What floor stands up to hard-wheel AGV traffic?

A ¼″ MavClad EM troweled epoxy mortar in the AGV aisles, with every control and construction joint filled with MavJoint JF semi-rigid joint filler. Hard wheels rarely fail a floor in the open field; they fail it at the joint edge and wherever the build is thinner than the load demands. The build is set from the wheel type, the load, and the slab condition, not from a catalog page.

Can you coat a slab saturated with coolant and cutting oil?

Often, but the slab decides. Powertrain and machining floors are tested for oil contamination and moisture before anything is quoted, then mechanically prepared to a profile the system can bond to. Where oil has penetrated too deep, the top surface is removed and rebuilt before the floor goes down. Where moisture is the issue, the build starts with MavCoat MVB moisture vapor barrier primer or MavPrime MVT. We do not coat over an untested slab.

Do you install ESD floors for EV battery pack assembly?

Yes. Maverick’s static-dissipative product is MavCoat ESD static-dissipative urethane floor coating applied over an epoxy insulator coat and grounded to the building — surface resistance, point to point/ground, 1×10^5 to <1×10^9 ohms per ANSI/ESD STM 7.1 — for electrical assembly, circuit-board handling, avionics areas, static-sensitive manufacturing and packaging, clean rooms, and labs. It is installed in pack assembly stations, test benches, and electronics handling areas with the same coved, seamless detailing as the rest of the plant.
